Bugesera Performance Contract evaluation

On this tuesday, 08 May 2012 in Bugesera conference room held a evaluation meeting where a pronvicial team of seven provincial staffs evaluate the progress report of Imihigo.

They  appreciate the progress made by Bugesera District as far as Imihigo is concerned, after the document reporting evaluation, the team go to field to realise what have been achieved and they appreciate it and said, you have to be able to report all this achievement so people may know what is happening in the District because it is amazing to see it.

The attached document describe our achievement for all Perfornce contract.

Communal work in Bugesera District

18th Commemoration of 1994 TUTSI Genocide in Bugesera District.

Bugesera: Bugesera District is made of fifteen sector, in the locality 1994 TUTSI genocide devastated and the consequences are remarkable.

Historians say, the District was populated by Tutsi from all around the country, moved from their home because the location was not good to host human being, but they make the area habitable and their make it even better.

In this 18th commemoration, different activities were done among them, inhumane 1994 Tutsi Genocide victims find, overnight as we commemorate, and different programs where leaders share with the population who attends the programs and the attendance was high and also the participation appreciated.

Among the course done there was one given by the Mayor of Bugesera Mr.  RWAGAJU Louis, in Rilima prison, where are hosted convicted, and most of them 1994 Tutsi Genocide convicted, and the lecture affect the convicted in such a way that they said “We are ashamed of seeing that a children are knew, we did such horrible activities”. Some of them go further and accepted to show where they thrown their victims during genocide, so to lay them in memorial site with human dignity.

The closing ceremonies of 18th 1994 TUTSI Genoside was hosted in Ruhuha Sector where 163 victims where laid in Ruhuha memorial, the victims were fleeing to bordering Burundi, and caught in RANCH Gako, killed and thrown in hole deeper than 60 meter, and the victims were among those shown by Rilima prisoners.  

The ceremonies also knew the presence of guest of honor, MP Francis KABONEKA, Mayor of Bugesera District, representative of army and police in the region, friend and family member of the victims, the ceremonies started by a mass on the honor of the victims, and the follow the laying of the victims in memorial site.

KAGAJU the singer, sings song that provide message of hope to citizens present, and she says, it is her contribution as far as living the memory is concerned.

Commemoration also took place in Gashora sector where victims of genocide were also laid in rest in memorial site on 11 April 2012.

On 14 April a group of Youth who are in ONE HUNDRED CHILDREN SURVIVORS commemorates by walking 4 Kms from ARRETE to Ntarama memorial site we the theme WE ARE IN YOU PLACE in Kinyarwanda, NKUBEREYE MU CYIMBO.

Leaders request the youth to use also social media to said what they know because those who denies 1994 TUTSI Genocide also use social media, and to think ahead to realize their dreams.

On 15 April, the date when Ntarama Church killing occurred, a walk from the Church now transformed in Memorial Site to Cyahabi know as CND where a large number of Tutsi were killed but few saved by the marchland a project concerning the establishment of memorial site is in progress.

Even if the week of commemoration ended, people will continue the commemoration along the Hundred days of 1994 TUTSI Genocide with also other activities.

Senators join hand to Bugesera citizens in communal work.

Bugesera: Communal work as end of the month activity, in Bugesera District it brought together Senators, , Province, and District leaders and citizens, they work on country road that lead to a marshland commonly known as CND in NTARAMA Sector.

The communal work was prepared in line with the good governance week as it was said by Bernard MAKUZA, and it helps also in retracing the road that lead to a marchland where a large number of TUTSI perished, but at the same time used as shelter for a small number as we are heading to eighteenth TUTSI genocide commemoration.

In the activity Bernard MAKUZA said,” it is a good practice for senators to sit with the citizens in such occasion and discuss, our government is not just a replacement or successor, it is a genuine change, so work, and get developed, the security is guaranteed, and this won’t to happen again”.  

1.162 graduates in Bugesera District.

Bugesera: On this Tuesday, 27 March 2012, 1.162 laureates received certificates of merit, after following a course on writing, reading, and counting dedicated to old people, the course was delivered by volunteer through churches programs.

The activities was prepared in line with the government programs to eradicate illiteracy in population, by increase the number of illiterate people, as this is a major barrier to the implementation of government programs, development, and welfare.

The activity took place in RILIMA, and NYAMATA Sectors, and knew the participation of honorable guests among them State Minister of Education in charge of Primary and Secondary Schools Dr HAREBAMUNGU Mathias, Executive Secretary of Bible Society, Reverend Postor KAYIJUKA Emmanuel, Legal Representative of Rwanda Bible Society, Bishop MVUNABANDI Augustin, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of family and gender promotion, Executive secretary of National Women Council, and the Executive Secretary of Eastern Province.

Executive secretary of Rwanda Bible society thanked, the laureates, and volunteers who make effort to make the activity a success, he gives bible gifts to volunteers as a symbol of gratefulness, and it is better if a good soul lies in a healthy body.

After welcome remarks to honorable guests, by Vice Mayor in charge of social affairs who headed the activity along, sketches and songs related to negative consequences of illiteracy were followed.

The minister of education appreciates the achievement, those of laureates, volunteer, churches, and District, and added, this is due to His Excellence plan, our target is to eradicate illiteracy by 2015, 95% of citizens will be able to read, and write, 2017, 90% to read, write, and count, finally in 2020, 100% will clearly read, write, and count.

Bugesera District is ranked to the first Eastern Province District, with a large number of people who can read, write, and count, as revealed by EICV3 report, surprisingly among graduate were a large number of female. The District still has 180 to train to reach the year target.
